Eileen Ross

Eileen Ross is a studio artist and
creativity coach working in Black Mountain, North Carolina. She has been painting professionally since 1990, and her work has received awards in juried shows in New York, metropolitan Washington, DC, and in North Carolina. She has had several one-woman shows, including one in the Kennedy Center in Washington.

She received her BA from New York University, with a major in Psychology and Fine Art History, and Masters in Foundations of Education from the University of Virginia. While teaching “at risk” teenagers, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and, as the symptoms exacerbated, she retired from teaching.

She has studied with many of the best watermedia artists and teachers in the country, including Mary Todd Beam, John Salminen, Katherine Liu, and others.
Ross’ work is lyrical and metaphorical rather then representational. Themes range from jazz musicians and circus performers to impressions of the wonders and power of nature. She fell in love with New Orleans long before Katrina, and has an even greater affinity for the city now that her daughter and son-in-law (a “restoration” genius) have blessed her life with two beautiful “Nawlins” native grandchildren..
